As an agriculture educator you will share your passions with the next generation of Ag leaders and strengthen a leading economic driver in Wyoming and across the United States. University of Wyoming’s Bachelor of Science in Secondary Agricultural Education will provide you with the ability to teach students about agriculture, food, and natural resources while also helping them attain a wide variety of skills, including science, math, communications, leadership, management, and technology.

You will gain a deep understanding of teacher education and agricultural science on your journey to become a middle and/or high school agricultural education teacher. Students will study historical and current trends in curriculum and pedagogy while learning about special education techniques, integrating technology, and multicultural classrooms. Virtual teaching simulations will prepare you for expansive real-world classroom experiences throughout the program.

The program is nationally recognized by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Program (AAQEP) and is aligned to Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board Agriculture Education endorsement requirements. When you complete the program, you will be eligible to apply for your Wyoming teaching license.

The secondary Agriculture education program takes place on-campus in Laramie where you will utilize the state-of-art agriculture education lab to perfect your technical skills and teaching techniques. Additional benefits for earning a bachelors in secondary education at UW will ensure your success in the program.

Students who complete the program will earn a B.S. in Secondary Agriculture Education with a concurrent major in agricultural business, agricultural communications, or animal and veterinary science. You can also take electives to add biology education or other endorsements to your future teaching license to increase your marketability.

You can take advantage of alternative licensure pathways to get on the fast-track to becoming a teacher in Wyoming. UW’s Teaching Secondary Content Certificate will allow you to apply for your teaching license in as little as three semesters.
