Welcome to the Curriculum and Instruction graduate programs at the University of Wyoming. The Curriculum and Instruction (C & I) programs are collaborative graduate programs made of faculty from the departments of Educational Studies, Elementary and Early Childhood Education, and Secondary Education.
What to expect in C&I:
The C & I program offers advanced coursework for educational professionals interested in pursuing their Master's of Arts (M.A.) degree as well as for educational professionals in pursuing either a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) or a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).
Our MA is for classroom teachers who are interested and committed to sharpening their professional craft. This program includes courses in curriculum, instruction, assessment, multicultural education, and educational research. In addition, teachers identify an area of interest and choose classes which help them develop a specific area of specialization. Our Ed.D. Program is for classroom teachers who have a masters degree and are interested in advanced study with the primary intention of remaining in school districts while advancing their leadership potentials both inside and outside the classroom. Our Ph.D. is for those educational professionals whose advanced study might someday lead them to research-oriented careers, primarily working in university settings.
Any of our graduate students can earn their degree in conjunction with a graduate minor in Educational Research through the UW Professional Studies department.
The C & I program is home to specific areas of specializations including specific certificate/endorsement programs. These include:
The C & I program also is home to four endowed faculty members in literacy education, mathematics education, and science education. These are in addition to a variety of other academic interests which characterize the faculty in the program.
C & I programs are accredited through NCATE. The University of Wyoming is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association.
Should I be able to answer any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working and learning with you!
Sincerely,
