MASTERS IN EDUCATION ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Application Review Timeline
Application reviews will be completed by the end of the following month, except during
holidays and summer break. Applications for spring start MUST be received before November 1st. Applications for Summer/Fall start MUST be received by April 1st. International students are encouraged to apply at least one semester in advance
of starting classes to allow sufficient time for processing visa and other related paperwork.

Minimal Admissions Criteria for MA Program
Meeting minimal admissions criteria does NOT automatically ensure admission to the
program.
- Education experience is preferred. Experience could include activities such as teaching
in any classroom setting, working in educational leadership positions, or conducting
educational activities in community outreach situations.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Score of 3 or 4 on a letter of intent. This letter serves as a writing sample, and
takes the place of GRE scores in the admission process. For a full description of
the letter of intent see below.
- Transcript evaluation for undergraduate degree completion, reflecting a minimum 3.0
GPA on a 4.0 scale on the applicant’s most recent degree from an accredited institution,
plus transcripts from all other schools attended.
- A TOEFL score of 525 (paper-based), 76 (computer exam) or above is required for international
students, IELTS score of 6.5.
- Submission of all required supplemental materials
- Qualified Post Baccalaureate Teacher Certification Program applicants are admitted
on a conditional basis, pending successful completion of the Post Baccalaureate program,
including methods and residency.
Required Supplemental Materials
Educators wishing to apply for admission to the Master of Arts in Education degree
program must complete the Graduate Admissions application and pay the required fee.
This application is available online through the admissions website.
In addition, applicants must submit the following supplemental material:
- letter of intent
- an academic resume
- contact information for three references (letters not required)
- college transcripts
International students must also submit passing scores on the Test of English as a
Foreign Language (TOEFL).
