SHAPE #MeToo Grassroots lobbyist training for residents concerned about sexual assault Saturday, October 6, 2018 10:00am-3:00pm Wyoming Union: Family Union Room, 1000 E. Laramie, WY  What is SHAPE WY? Through SHAPW-WY – ESPC’s Grassroots Lobbyist Training empowers everyday Wyomingites to influence the legislative process of behalf of their community. We hold SHAPE WY annually during the legislative session in Cheyenne and across the state during the interim period in special locations based on the needs of our state. As one of those special locations in 2018, we’re partnering with residents concerned about sexual assault in Wyoming to host SHAPE WY – SHAPE #MeToo. What will you learn during SHAPE WY?  South 5th St., Suite #$1SHAPE WY is designed to increase the knowledge of and access to our state’s policy-making process by educating participants on four principals: Process: Learn how to influence and target key policy makers, stakeholders, and elected officials by demystifying the legislative process. Messaging: Learn how to effectively craft and communicate your own personal story. Advocacy: Learn how to make your voice heard across the state whether you’re at home or the Capitol. Practice: Gain hands on experience applying the skills you’ve learned by directly lobbying elected officials on the issues that matter most to you. Please join us on October 6th in the Union Family Room for SHAPE #MeToo: A Grassroots Lobbyist Training for Wyoming Residents Concerned About Sexual Assault.

We know that navigating local government is intimidating. Everyone feels this way when they start advocating for their rights. SHAPE #MeToo empowers everyday Wyomingites to influence the legislative process on behalf of their community. The Equality State Policy Center is working with the Wyoming Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and the Stop Violence Program to give Wyomingites concerned about sexual assault the tools they need to influence change in government.

This event is open to students, faculty, staff, and the public. 

  

This event fulfills a SOAR requirement.
