Rally and March

5:00pm Wyoming Union Skylight Lounge

The MLK, Jr. March is a key tradition for the UW/Laramie community. The march commemorates the historic March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, and the legacy of Dr. King.  Just as the March on Washington was a collaborative effort lead by major civil rights groups and icons of the day, the MLK March is a gathering of community members who march with messages designed to shed light on the political and social issues that challenge our nation today.

Community Supper and
Willena Stanford Commitment to Diversity Award

6:00pm Wyoming Union Ballroom

The Willena Stanford Community Supper immediately follows the MLK March and Rally in the Wyoming Union Ballroom. The event is held in honor of Dr. Willena Stanford, a former UW instructor in African American and Diaspora Studies who had a strong commitment to the equal educational opportunity of all students at UW. Join us to honor UW students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to diversity as we kick off a week focused on recognizing the importance of actively eradicating injustice in our local and global communities.  In addition to the dinner, which is free, the evening’s program will include an awards presentation and speeches by University of Wyoming President, Dr. Laurie Nichols and UW alumnus, Jon Gardzelewski.
