The information below is for August 2012, stay tuned for 2013 details here!
UW faculty play a significant role in Summit. Faculty input and investment have strongly contributed to shaping the program goals and activities. Because Summit aims to help students with the transition to coursework, critical thinking, and classroom etiquette, the August 24 Faculty "sneak peek"session offers students their first encounter with faculty-student communication and best practices. Faculty have volunteered to lead small-group sessions after being nominated by students, faculty, and administrators as ideal candidates for the event.
President’s Welcome Address
You’re Invited! All UW faculty are invited to attend the President’s Welcome Address and reception on Thursday, August 23 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. This event will welcome incoming students into the University of Wyoming, introduce them to core campus traditions, and ceremonially initiate the incoming freshman class. A strong faculty presence enhances the meaning and academic significance of this event.
PIE Awards
The University of Wyoming’s Ellbogen Center for Teaching & Learning, Learning Resource Networks, and Residence Life & Dining awarded 45 Promoting Intellectual Engagement (PIE) Awards this spring to faculty who encourage students’ excitement, inquiry, and autonomy in first-year courses. Many of these PIE Award winners participate in Summit. Recipients of the PIE Award are nominated on-line by sophomore students, and then selected by a committee based on thoughtfulness and volume of student nominations.
