Green Teams

Green Teams are groups of faculty and staff fostering dialogue and increasing awareness of sustainable practices at the University of Wyoming. Team members follow the 3C framework: Creativity, Collaboration, and Conscious Consumption. Cultivating an atmosphere for creative faculty and staff to communicate and synthesize ideas will lead to awareness of conscious consumption in all departments on campus.

History of Green Teams

Green Teams formed in the Spring of 2011 as a class project for UW’s Campus Sustainability course taught through the Environment and Natural Resources Program by Professors Deb Paulson and Melea Press. Chris Michael, Brittney Osthoff, Carly-Ann Anderson, and Ted Doty adopted the idea after researching sustainability programs at other campuses across the country, including Portland State University and Penn State University.

Why Green Teams now?

In 2005, UW formed the Campus Sustainability Committee and in 2007 President Tom Buchanan signed the ACUPCC, pledging to reduce the campus’ carbon footprint.  We believe that Green Teams can help to bridge the gap between administrative mandates and passionate student initiatives to foster sustainability.  Resolving this disconnect will increase collaboration on the UW campus and help satisfy the community engagement requirement of the ACUPCC.
