Course Description
Cultures of Work
Most Americans spend at least 40 years in a workplace of some kind or another--working on a ranch, in an operating room, behind the wheel of a UPS truck, managing a small business, etc. And, yet, many of those workers have never really thought deeply about the conditions of those workplaces. This class gives you the chance to explore the worlds of work through a range of texts (articles, events, and audio/film clips) and to complete at least one in-depth study of a current workplace issue. This class will make you a better student, a more interesting person, and a worker who can develop more power over the workplaces you'll eventually choose for yourself.
