You have chosen an exemplary program to prepare you for your career as
an educator. In our College, you will find faculty who are
knowledgeable, experienced, and willing to help you succeed in your
academic pursuits. You will also find a highly trained staff in the
Office of Teacher Education committed to helping you navigate through
your chosen program.
Your decision to enter education as a career field is applauded and
appreciated because every one of us knows what a tremendous impact a
great teacher can have on our lives! Teachers today face challenges
(social, academic, and political) in their classrooms that were
unimagined in the 20th Century. But if you want a way to make a
difference, this is a career path for you.
I wish you much success as a student in the College of Education and I
look forward to working with you in the future.
Sincerely,
Kay Persichitte
"Teachers should be held in the highest honor. They are the allies
of
legislators, they have agency in the prevention of crime, they aid in
regulating the atmosphere, whose incessant action and pressure cause the
life-blood to circulate, and to return pure and healthful to the heart
of the nation." --Lydia H. Sigourney (1791-1865), American author
