OTE DISTANCE LEARNING STATEMENT

(February, 2007)
The Wyoming Teacher Education Program (WTEP) is primarily a campus-based program. The University of Wyoming has articulation agreements with Wyoming Community Colleges to accept courses that fulfill University Studies Program requirements. Students entering UW beginning Fall 2001 who have completed an AA, AS, or AB degree from a Wyoming Community College (spring 2001 or later) receive credit toward completion of the lower-division general education requirements included in the University Studies Program. For more information see the UW General Bulletin.

The College of Education accepts professional education courses from the seven Wyoming Community Colleges that are equivalent to Phase I of the WTEP, as specified in the Wyoming Higher Education Transfer Guide. Students enrolled at Laramie County Community College and Western Wyoming Community College may complete course work equivalent to both Phase I and Phase II as outlined in the UW College of Education/LCCC articulation agreement and the UW College of Education/WWCC articulation agreement. For more information about these agreements, contact an education advisor at the participating community college.

For the WTEP at UW in Laramie: Phase I, Phase II and Phase IIIA/B of the WTEP are offered on- campus only. Phase IIIA (Methods) is offered in the fall semester only. Phase IIIB (Residency) is offered in the spring semester only and will be completed in a Partner School site. The Partner Schools are located in the following districts: Albany County #1 (elementary and specified secondary content areas); Natrona County #1 (specified secondary content areas); Fremont Counties #14 and #25 (elementary), Sheridan County #2 (elementary), and Sweetwater Counties #1 and #2 (elementary).

A complete teacher certification program in elementary education is offered by UW in Casper through the UW/Casper College Center. In 2006-07, we began the delivery of the secondary biological science education program at UW/CC. UW/CC is the sole site for the delivery of the secondary teacher preparation program in Technical Education. Students should contact UW/CC for information about these programs.

The University of Wyoming Outreach School (1-800-448-7801) and UW Online [http://online.uwyo.edu] offer a limited number of education courses in various delivery formats (e.g., web-based, compressed video) each semester. Please contact UW Outreach for further information.
