Jenny Foldenauer

Jenny is excited to be a part of the UW Theatre and Dance Faculty, after living in Los Angeles for the last 13 years working in film, tv, and theatre. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Design with a Chicano Studies Minor at the University of California, Davis and her MFA in Theatre Production with a focus on Costume Design from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). She is a member of the IATSE Motion Picture Costumers union, Local 705 in Los Angeles.

Jenny has worked in various professional capacities in New York, Colorado, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Mexico. She designs costumes for theater, film, music videos, puppetry and dance. Some of her notable work includes:

Culture Clash's Bordertown Now directed by Diane Rodriguez at the Pasadena Playhouse, Mary Zimmerman's Argonautika directed by Julia Rodriguez-Elliott at A Noise Within (winner of a LA Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Costume Design 2019), the world premiere of the new English translated adaptation of Jean Anouilh's Antigone at A Noise Within theater directed and adapted by Robertson Dean. Sheila Callaghan's Everything You Touch, directed by Co-Artistic Director Jessica Kubzansky produced by Theatre @ Boston Court in association with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, (winner of 2014 LA Stage Alliance Ovation award for Best Costume Design: Intimate Theater, the LA Drama Critics Circle 2015 award, and the 1st annual Stage Raw Theater Award for best Costume Design) the west coast Premiere of Our Class directed by Matthew McCray for the Son of Semele Ensemble, held at the Atwater Village Theatre and winner of LA Weekly's Best Production Design 2014. 

She has assisted and Costume/Wardrobe supervised numerous LA based productions, including the Broadway bound show Deaf West's Spring Awakening directed by Michael Arden at the Wallis Annenberg in Beverly Hills, Parfumerie directed by Mark Brokaw (2014 Ovation winner for Costume Design Large Theatre) the inaugural show for the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Stage Kiss directed by Bart DeLorenzo held at the Geffen Playhouse and (West Coast Premiere)Tribes directed by David Cromer held at Center Theatre Group's Mark Taper Forum and La Jolla Playhouse.

She was previously a NTT Assistant Professor and Costume Shop Manager at Occidental College and a visiting lecturer at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and Earlham college.
