Jan., 26, 2001--University of Wyoming theatre professor Leigh Selting was nominated
as a finalist for the Actors Center Fellowship from Region VII of the Kennedy Center
American College Theatre Festival (KC\ACTF).
A panel of professionals selected Selting as an outstanding teacher of acting in the
region that includes Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Selting
is one of eight regional nominees nationwide vying for the fellowship that includes
a travel grant and tuition waiver to attend this professional development opportunity
next June at the Actors Center studios in New York City. The national winner will
be selected in April.
The development program is offered as a seminar to benefit established acting teachers
and actors who are starting to teach. The Actors Center is a resource for established
actors to pursue artistic growth and develop their craft in an atmosphere of peer
level support and interaction.
Selting recently was awarded a regional KC/ACTF Meritorious Achievement Award for
his direction of the UW original production of "Dead White Males,"one of four plays
selected to be performed at the Region VII conference Feb. 12 16 in Anchorage, Alaska.
