Oct.
23, 2009 -- The University of Wyoming Department of Theatre and Dance
and the UW Playwrights will present "Heart in Hand," a new work by UW
senior playwriting student Chris Browne.
"Heart in Hand" runs Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30 and 31, at 7:30 p.m.
in the Fine Arts Center Studio Theatre. All tickets cost $5. For tickets
and information, call the Fine Arts Center box office at (307) 766-6666
or go online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.
Browne's play follows Josh, a young medical student whose fascination
with healing turns to obsession when he encounters Sarah, a young addict
who needs more healing than medicine alone can provide. Josh's
determination to save Sarah takes him down a dangerous road that
threatens to destroy everything he has worked for, while violent ghosts
from Sarah's past aim to deny her the salvation she seeks.
UW alumna, Claudine Mboligikpelani Nako, directs this production. She
says audience members don't need to be informed about the politics
surrounding medical ethics to appreciate the story.
"Everyone can relate to the humor and sadness that comes from the human desperation for something to believe in," says Nako.
