All sacred cows imaginable are headed for the dinner table in this comedy by playwright-in-residence William Missouri Downs. When his university sacks him, Professor Dick Fig is forced to endure an excruciating exit interview. What begins as small talk careens into a delirious comic exploration of religion, love, politics, and the meaning of life.

The Liar (COMEDY)

Pierre Corneille’s classic 17th century farce gets an uproarious reworking by American playwright and inveterate jester David Ives, author of the smash hits “All In The Timing” and “Venus In Fur.” When the incorrigible and handsome pathological liar Dorante comes to Paris, he charms all who meet him with his tall tales.  But as his lies multiply, can he keep them all straight and still get the girl?

The Nutcracker (BALLET)

A beloved family holiday tradition, this classic ballet about a young girl who receives a nutcracker for Christmas that spurs her fantastical dream is based on E.T.A. Hoffman’s book and features Tchaikovsky's dazzling score. This year’s production features more costumes and sets inspired by frontier Laramie and the Ivinson Mansion!

The Shakespeare Project (CLASSICAL)

UW Theatre & Dance is proud to host members of the celebrated Actors From The London Stage (AFTLS) in residence during spring 2015 to set three works on our students in the AFTLS style, which will be presented in rotation over six nights. Titles include “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Much Ado About Nothing,” and "Merchant of Venice."   Season ticket holders may elect to attend just one performance or the entire series of three as part of their season tickets.

Actors From The London Stage: MACBETH (CLASSICAL)

A troupe from Actors from the London Stage will close out the Eminent Artist residency with two special performances of MACBETH on March 7.

Based loosely on historical accounts of King Macbeth of Scotland, Shakespeare’s renowned “Scottish play” is one of his best-known tragedies. Celebrated Scottish general Macbeth has a vaunting ambition to be king. one easily stoked by the dark prophecies of three mysterious witches and the desires of his ruthless wife.  But once Macbeth's gory rise to power commences, there can be no end to the savagery.

Spring Dance Show (DANCE)

This year's spring dance concert features an eclectic array of new urban, modern, contemporary ballet, jazz, and vertical dance pieces choreographed by UW Theatre and Dance faculty Margaret Wilson, Marsha Knight, Jennifer Deckert, and guest artists.

Candide (Opera)

Based on the witty novella by Voltaire, Leonard Bernstein’s fast-paced, comedic operetta traces the travels and travails of the naïve Candide, his beloved Cunegonde, and a host of colorful characters on their quest to find “the best of all possible worlds.”
