BUSINESS BUILDING

(ORIGINALLY: COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY)

"The Commerce and Industry Building, designed by Kellogg and Kellogg of Cheyenne and Rock Springs, is one of the more contemporary designs on campus. A ceramic mural created by Robert Russin is located over the main entrance and the sidelight bays, suggesting Wyoming's commerce and industry. The main entrance is enhanced by a modern colonnade with simple, unadorned columns. Spandrels on the west exterior elevation introduce contemporary precast concrete panels with exposed aggregates.

Officially opened January 1961, the building housed the Departments and Programs of Accounting, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, and Statistics. In 1963, the Department of Economics was transferred from the College of Arts and Sciences to the College of Commerce and Industry. Today the college consists of the Departments of Accounting, Business Administration, Economics and Statistics. Computer access facilities are also housed in the building."
