Van Driver/Dispatcher

JOB PURPOSE:

This position is hiring for  Demand Response Van Driver/Dispatchers for the spring semester. 

Perform the duties of Van Driver/Dispatcher on various Demand Response operational services.  These Demand Response services include Paratransit, SafeRide, and Laramie Link Dial - A - Ride. These van services pick up riders on an "on-call" basis. CDL license is not required for this position, but a clean driving record is.

  • Demand Response Services and Hours:

    1. Paratransit ADA Service: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 7:00pm

    2. Laramie Link Dial-A-Ride: *spring semester

               Monday - Friday: 6:00am - 2:00am

               Saturday - Sunday: 9:30am - 10:30pm

    3. SafeRide: Thursday - Saturday 8:00pm - 3:30am

Please note: Must be able to pass all drug and/or alcohol screening required by the UW Drug and Alcohol Policy http://www.uwyo.edu/generalcounsel/_files/docs/uw-reg-2-39.pdf and applicable DOT Regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Applicants will be trained to drive and dispatch for the services.

  • Safely operate UW transit vehicles. Pick-up and drop off passengers at locations within Laramie.

  • Complete safety inspections of vehicles to ensure equipment is operating within safe operating parameters. Maintain inventory of equipment.

  • Dispatch vehicles/drivers and schedule rides.

  • Assist with shop and cleaning duties, maintain vehicle and office cleanliness.

  • Provide excellent customer service to all passengers, offer assistance and answer questions for passengers as required.

  • Orient and train new drivers and dispatchers as required.

  • Assist drivers in maintaining passenger safety and provide directions to drivers. 

  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.

  • Applicants MUST be at least 18 years of age.

  • Applicants must be able to start training in December.

Transit Shop Parts Assistant

JOB PURPOSE:

Help with inventory and organization of parts for university transit maintenance operations.  Make runs to various parts dealers in town to obtain/return parts.  Monitor and alert shop supervisors when supplies require restocking.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain parts organization system including labeling and ID assignment. 

  • Maintain software systems that track parts inventory. 

  • Other duties may include data entry, filing, and other miscellaneous duties.

Transit Cleaning Attendant

JOB PURPOSE:

The Transit Cleaning Attendant is responsible for maintaining a sanitary environment that our passengers and staff can utilize in order to continue our operations in a safe manner. This includes assisting in the temporary removal of vehicles from route in order to undergo a thorough sterilization of all surfaces throughout the day. The Transit Cleaning Attendant will also be responsible for thorough inspections and sanitation of transit vehicles every night after regular service hours. Job duties include washing and sanitizing interior windows, seats, dashboards, walls, ceilings, floors, and other high touch areas. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the cleaning and sanitation of the Transit fleet at various points during and after operating hours.

  • Coordinate sanitation with other attendants to ensure all buses undergo frequent cleaning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong Attention to Detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Exceptional time management skills

  • Intermediate computer skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous cleaning experience preferred, with knowledge of proper chemical safety procedures.

  • Experience operating a variety of cleaning equipment such as upholstery cleaners, electrostatic sprayers, power washers, and other cleaning gear.

  • Experience mixing and diluting concentrated cleaning chemicals.

  • Knowledge of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage.

Parking Services Officer

Job Purpose: 

Hiring for Summer and Fall 2020 - Enforce the University of Wyoming parking regulations on campus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The main responsibility of this position is to enforce the University of Wyoming parking regulations on campus. It may also involve revenue collection, data entry, and other duties as assigned. Applicants must be able to provide quality customer service at all times and remain calm in stressful and sometimes difficult situations.

Transit & Parking Services is very flexible working with student schedules. Weekly hours can range anywhere from 10 - 28 hours. The normal hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Please note that this position requires occasional weekend and night work.  Position includes frequent pay scale reviews.

Mechanic, Transit Bus

Job Purpose: 

Perform intermediate to advanced diagnoses and repair University-owned and University-affiliated transit buses and other vehicles as required. Assist in all other repairs and preventative maintenance as needed. Please note: This position is grant-funded and considered "at-will". 

This position will remained Open Until Filled, but priority consideration will be given to candidates who apply by November 9th, 2020 at 11:59 pm. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, test, diagnose, and repair diesel and/or gas vehicles and equipment. Inspect vehicle components, parts, and accessories to ensure safe operation that is compliant with all DOT, FTA, and ADA regulations. Adhere to safety and preventative maintenance standards and procedures.

  • Read and interpret vehicle manuals and schematics to perform complex repairs/maintenance.

  • Disassemble and reassemble vehicles; examine parts for excessive wear using micrometer, calipers and gauges. Follow OEM specifications and standards

  • Repair and replace parts to resolve malfunctions; clean equipment/parts by washing with solvents, soaps and water or steam cleaning; perform preventive maintenance on equipment/parts to ensure work life and efficiency.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and shop area for the purpose of ensuring availability and safety.

  • Prepare written materials such as repair and maintenance logs.

Supplemental Functions:

  • May assist supervisor in assigning and/or scheduling work, ordering parts, and managing work orders. Act on behalf of supervisor as required.

  • Keep supervisor notified of shop workload and operations.

  • Coordinate and or assist with outside service calls; assist in assigning/prioritizing workload.

Mechanic

Job Purpose: 

To help transit operations keep equipment maintained and safe for students and department use.
The working hours for this position are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday - Friday.
Pre-employment drug screening and review of motor vehicle record history are required.

Please Note: 

  • This position has been deemed essential as addressed in the University of Wyoming’s Employee Handbook.  Employees in essential positions may be required to work during emergency closures and winter closure based on the nature of their job duties and the reasons for the closure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic to intermediate vehicle/equipment maintenance and repairs to Transit and Parking Services fleet.  Diagnose, maintain, repair, and adjust buses as necessary to keep fleet in optimum and safe condition.

  • Perform and complete annual vehicle inspections, to also include all occupant safety and emergency systems. Make adjustments as needed.

  • Perform timely routine vehicle preventive maintenance program in accordance with DOT and FTA regulations to ensure safe operating condition of entire fleet.

  • Inspects vehicle components, parts, and accessories on Transit & Parking Services fleet to ensure safe operation that is compliant with all DOT, FTA, and ADA regulations.General shop cleaning and organizational duties, keeping fluid cabinets stocked and organized. Disposing of used fluids properly and as necessary.

  • Operates/Maintains tools, equipment, and shop area for the purpose of ensuring availability and safety.

  • Prepares written materials (repair and maintenance logs, parts lists) for supervisor to ensure all data is entered into work management system.

  • Responds to road calls as necessary. Arrange for towing, bus replacement, or field repairs if necessary.

  • Perform other task as assigned by the Lead Technician or Shop Manager.

  • Basic mechanical ability and understanding of vehicle systems.

  • Possession of Refrigeration Recovery/Containment Certificate Type II.

  • Solid knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules, regulations and procedures.

Car Washer

Job Purpose: 

To hire part-time workers to help clean and maintain Car Rental vehicles between 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, Sunday shifts on a rotating schedule as needed. Will work with class schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check-in with immediate supervisor each work day for any important information or duties.

  • Perform pre and post inspections for damages, rock chips, and broken windshields.

  • Fuel vehicles in the AM and throughout the day as needed.

  • Have rental vehicles ready for customers on time.

  • Prep vehicles includieng but not limited to: vaccum interior to remove loose dirt and debris, washing interior surfaces, washing exterior of the vehicle and sanitizing the vehicle.

  • Keep work area clean and free of hazards.

  • Empty all trash containers daily.

  • Perform basic maintence checks which include but are not limited to: fluides, damages and tire management.

  • Work with Office Associate on all upcoming rental vehicle schedules and/or changes.

  • Some Sunday shifts maybe required.
