Teaching
I am teaching Flora of Rocky Mountains at Casper
College in the summer session - see informational flyer here. I will
offer Vegetation Ecology in Fall 2010 for UW students
throughout Wyoming. See Course link for more information.
Research Interests
My main research interest is
the study of river and floodplain ecosystems. I study multiple chemical
elements (mainly
carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus) across levels of biological
organization - linking the study of organisms to ecosystem
processes and functioning. Specific
interests include:
- Role of hydrology in riverine/riparian ecosystem functioning and biogeochemistry
- Impacts of human activities on river ecosystems
- Riparian forest response to flooding, drought, and river regulation
- Stable isotope ecology
- Invertebrate physiology
- Impacts of non-native plants and
arthopods
- Long-term monitoring, education, and conservation projects
