University Counseling Center

Make an Appointment

Come to 341 Knight Hall during business hours to fill out new client paperwork (please allow 15-20 minutes) and to be scheduled for a next available initial appointment with a counselor.

This initial appointment (15-20 minutes) is not a counseling appointment. It is an opportunity for the counselor to assess and discuss your needs.

Office Hours:   Monday -  Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Summer Hours:  Monday -  Friday- 7:30 am - 4:30 pm


What if I have a crisis?

Crisis intervention services are offered during regular clinic hours (8:00am - 5:00pm) for students with urgent mental health crisis. Please call or walk in and inform our receptionist you have an urgent crisis. 

For after-hours crises, call 766-8989 and ask for the on-call counselor.   

If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911.


We encourage students to seek an evaluation at the University Counseling Center as soon as significant problems/issues emerge. Don't wait for problems to worsen. Here are some common reasons to seek an evaluation.

  • Symptoms of depression or anxiety are worsening or are more frequent than before

  • Thoughts of ending your life/thoughts of suicide

  • Thoughts of harming someone else

  • Significant academic problems (poor motivation, falling behind, or mental health symptoms negatively impacting school work

  • Sleeping patterns are abnormal (sleeping too much or too little)

  • Eating patterns have changed (loss of appetite or increased food intake)

  • Loss of a loved one

  • Traumatic event(s), either recent or in the pst that are bothering you

  • Decreased ability to control consumption of alcohol or drugs

  • Increased risky/unhealthy behavior related to substance and/or alcohol consumption or sex

  • You have experienced: intimate partner violence, sexual assault, sexual or gender-based harassment, stalking or any other type of intimidation

  • Serious interpersonal problems with family members or significant other

There are many reasons to seek support - come discuss your concerns with a caring professional in a confidential and non-judgmental environment.
