Services for Students with Temporary Impairments

Depending on the situation, temporary impairments such as broken bones, recovering from surgery, etc. and the degree of limitation of major life functions during recovery substantial enough to necessitate the provision of services similar to those provided students with more chronic or permanent conditions.
Services typically involve advocating for moving classrooms to accessible locations when a student's impairment prevents classroom access, orientation to adaptive technology, information regarding accessible transportation and temporary disability parking, and notetaking and exam accommodations.  DSS encourages students who to communicate with faculty when experiencing a situation of temporary impairment(s).

Students with temporary mobility impairments who only need transportation assistance should contact ParaTransit
