Accessible parking is available for students, employees, and visitors having temporary or permanent physical disabilities. You may park in identifiable accessible parking spaces if you meet one of the following criteria:
Accessible metered parking spaces are also available to vehicles displaying a state placard or a disability license plate.
State-issued Permits and UW "D" Permit
Applications for state-issued permits can be obtained from local driver's license offices and from UDSS. When applying for a UW "D" permit, you must provide proof of the state accessible emblem or disability license plate to the Transportation and Parking Services. These services are located at 432 N. 10th Street. Those holding UW "D" permits may park in any "A," "C," or "R" parking space. They may also park in any accessible parking space.
Temporary "TD" Permit
Students and employees with temporary disabilities may obtain a temporary "TD" permit. This permit allows access to all "A," "C," or "R" parking spaces as well as to all accessible parking spaces. If you desire a temporary "TD" permit, you will need to provide to Transportation and Parking Services medical verification stating both the diagnosis and the length of time during which the "TD" permit will be necessary. A state placard or disability license plate is not required to obtain a "TD" Permit. The "TD" permits are issued with expiration dates and may be renewed if necessary.
Visitors to campus having state-issued permits or disability license plates may park in either the day lot or metered spaces. Another option would be to purchase a daily pass. Daily pass accessible parking users may park in any accessible parking space or in "A," "C," or "R" spaces.
All parking at UW is subject to fee on regular UW business days. Parking fees are collected annually for students, faculty, and staff. Some metered parking is available for short-term parking or for visitors at common campus entry points. Day passes are available at Transportation and Parking services, the UW Visitor's Center, and the Union Information Desk. Fees are subject to change.
Some accessible parking spaces are reserved for specific vehicles and are designated by the license plate number of the user of the space. To request reserved parking, submit to the Parking and Transportation work group (via Auxiliary Services) proof of eligibility for accessible parking and specific reasons for needing reserved parking. Due to the variable use of parking by students throughout the day, reserved accessible spots are rarely granted.
You may obtain a campus map showing details related to campus access (e.g. accessible parking areas, building entrances, etc.) from both the UDSS office and from TransPark.
For more information about UW parking, please visit the TransPark website at: http://www.uwyo.edu/tap. You may also call TransPark at 766-9800. If using a TTY, TransPark may be reached at 766-4103.
