Also known as the UDSS Computer Lab, the Montgomery Technology Center (MTC) was created with support from the Montgomery Trust Fund, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Associated Students of UW and student fees. It provides access to computers, the UW network, and various forms of assistive technology (AT). The goals of the MTC are to provide access, education, training, and support for UW students, faculty, and staff who need AT to facilitate their work or learning.
The MTC/UDSS Computer Lab is open to the UW community. We offer training on adaptive computer equipment, connection to the Internet and access to the software available in all other campus labs. The UDSS Lab is a great place to study, read e-mail, or surf the Web, and is a recognized safe environment for persons with multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS).
During the year, we host demonstrations and informational presentations. Information about these events is shared via the UDSS students listserv.
When necessary and practicable, we can relocate adaptive equipment to other student labs and classrooms.
In addition to the MTC, AT resources may also be found in computer labs around the UW campus.
