Do you want to be a part of planning events on campus?

7220 Entertainment is the premier entertainment programming organization at the University of Wyoming. The mission of 7220 Entertainment is to create an inclusive environment for students to form communities through entertainment, leadership, and interpersonal connections in order to support and grow the University of Wyoming.  Through its five programming committees, members of 7220 Entertainment select, plan, promote and present a variety of popular entertainment programs and films that enhance the social and cultural life of the students of the University of Wyoming.  Due to the nature of the entertainment business and the commitment of 7220 Entertainment to maintain an outstanding reputation, only the most committed and enthusiastic shall be considered. 

 


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to maintain relations with various students, staff, departments and the community
  • Outgoing person who easily communicates with others
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, willing to take the initiative to complete tasks
  • Experience with promotion and marketing of events preferred
  • Experience with event planning a plus
  • Experience with budgeting a plus
  • Must be full-time student (12 hours undergraduate, or 9 hours graduate)
  • Must maintain a 2.5 GPA (3.0 for graduate students) or above during term
  • While not required, priority consideration is given to those who have been members of 7220 Entertainment for at least one semester

Films

• Create film-related programs within the Wyoming Union (and other venues, as appropriate) for the students of the University of Wyoming, faculty/staff, and Laramie community; • Work with Swank Motion Pictures and other film distributors to book films to develop a comprehensive and diverse, weekly film series and special film programs • Work with Union Events Office and other event service providers on set-up, breakdown, and clean-up of venue where films are screened; • Trouble shoot and report any film/technical issues as they arise; • With committee, brainstorm and implement unique and new techniques to market and enhance the movie going experience on campus (i.e. hosting panel discussion to go along with film, double feature, etc.).; • Oversee a budget of approximately $40,000* (subject to adjustment) for programming events;

Club Events

• Plan consistent (2-3 per month) events within the Wyoming Union (and other venues, as appropriate) for the students of the University of Wyoming, faculty, staff and Laramie community; • Plan an intentionally diverse scope of programs throughout the duration of the academic year; • Whenever possible, utilize the lower level of the Wyoming Union to plan ‘club’ style programs • Oversee a budget of approximately $90,000* (subject to adjustment) for programming events;

Large Scale Events

• Oversee 3-4 large scale popular programs including (but not limited) musicians, comedians, and lectures. • Plan an intentionally diverse scope of programs throughout the duration of the academic year. • Oversee a budget of approximately $230,000* (including revenue generation – subject to adjustment) for programming events.

Fine Arts and Lectures

• Plan programs that broaden the horizons and heighten awareness of arts, social issues, and other cultures within the Wyoming Union (and in other facilities, as appropriate) for the students of the University of Wyoming, faculty, staff and Laramie community; • Plan programs and lectures that stimulate thought/action or that deal with current events and hot topics relevant to college students, faculty, staff, and Laramie community; • Work with artists and coordinate gallery shows, its promotion campaign and awareness outreach, and plan one reception for each show; • Work in conjunction with academic departments and other offices/organizations on campus to bring events; • Oversee a budget of approximately $40,000* (subject to adjustment) for programming events;

Late Night Events

• Plan larger scale, multi-tiered programs within the Wyoming Union (and other venues, as appropriate) during prime social hours as an alcohol alternative on specifically targeted dates as determined by the CAC; • Be open to suggestions and promote diverse, alcohol-free programming; • Oversee a budget of approximately $110,000* (subject to adjustment) for programming events;
