Wyoming Union Information Desk & Ticket Office

The Wyoming Union is looking to fill TWO positions for Information Desk Attendant for Fall 2018.

Job Title: Wyoming Information Desk Attendant

Job Description: Information Desk Attendants in the Wyoming Union have various responsibilities. Specific tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Answer calls to the Information Desk and University switchboard using proper telephone etiquette.
    • Provide callers with correct information or seek assistance.
  • Provide accurate information to Campus Guests
    • Knowing where information can be found and how to access it.
  • Perform cashier functions:
    • Opening and Closing the register.
    • Process transactions through the register.
  • Support/maintain other services offered at the Information Desk including but not limited to:
    • The University's lost and found area.
    • Issue Single Day parking permits.
  • Support the University of Wyoming Fine Arts and Athletic Box Office:
  • Process payment of Box Office tickets.
  • Manage Will Call tickets when left at the Information Desk.
  • Understand multiple price levels and seating charts
  • Understand emergency procedures and assist Public Safety and other departments in the proper implementation of such in the event of an emergency.
  • Utilize computer skills (Excel, Word, Paciolan etc.).
  • Utilize University of Wyoming e-mail accounts as a way to communicate with colleagues and professional staff members.
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and regularly scheduled training/in-service sessions
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong inter-personal, communication and customer service skills as well as possess a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve, work as a team player, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Reliability, accuracy, and flexibility related to work schedule.
  • Desire to learn and adapt to an ever changing environment.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time and assist in lifting/moving equipment and supplies.
  • Dependable and Personable

Hours per week: 10 – 20 hours

Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday 7am – 6pm

Pay Rate: $7.50 hour

Safe Zone Coordinator

Hours-Approximately 15-20 hours a week-some evening and weekend work
Term of Position-One Year
Pay Scale-$8.00 an hour 

Safe Zone is a program that promotes a positive campus environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning individuals. This program provides workshops and support for students, faculty, and staff across the University of Wyoming campus and the Laramie community. The Safe Zone Program Coordinator is responsible for the general oversight and direction of the program.

Job duties include:

  • Schedule public Safe Zone workshops each semester for the UW and Laramie communities
  • Update the Safe Zone workshops on a regular basis
  • Providing Safe Zone workshops to classes and organizations as requested
  • Work with volunteer facilitators to cover requested workshops
  • Pursue outreach opportunities
  • Assist with and co-facilitate the Rainbow Leadership Series and other LGBTQ+ focused programs planned by the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership, as needed and requested.
  • Be an active member of the Queer Resource Council
  • Seek out collaboration opportunities with other programming boards, resource centers, departments, RSOs, community organizations, etc.
  • Attend weekly one on one meetings with advisor
  • Assess established learning outcomes
  • Complete and turn in event reports
  • Attend mandatory Center for Student Involvement & Leadership trainings/programs
  • Hold weekly office hours
  • Other duties as assigned
