Wyoming Union Information Desk & Ticket Office

The Wyoming Union is looking to fill one position for Information Desk Attendant beginning in March 2018. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK SPRING BREAK. When applying, please provide a course schedule and extracurricular schedule for Spring 2018.

Job Title: Wyoming Information Desk Attendant

Job Description: Information Desk Attendants in the Wyoming Union have various responsibilities.  Specific tasks include but are not limited to: 

  • Answer calls to the Information Desk and University switchboard using proper telephone etiquette.
    • Provide callers with correct information or seek assistance.
  • Provide accurate information to Campus Guests
    • Knowing where information can be found and how to access it.
  • Perform cashier functions:
    • Opening and Closing the register.
    • Process transactions through the register.
  • Support/maintain other services offered at the Information Desk including but not limited to:
    • The University's lost and found area.
    • Issue Single Day parking permits.
  • Support the University of Wyoming Fine Arts and Athletic Box Office:
  • Process payment of Box Office tickets.
  • Manage Will Call tickets when left at the Information Desk.
  • Understand multiple price levels and seating charts
  • Understand emergency procedures and assist Public Safety and other departments in the proper implementation of such in the event of an emergency.
  • Utilize computer skills (Excel, Word, Paciolan etc.).
  • Utilize University of Wyoming e-mail accounts as a way to communicate with colleagues and professional staff members.
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and regularly scheduled training/in-service sessions
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong inter-personal, communication and customer service skills as well as possess a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve, work as a team player, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Reliability, accuracy, and flexibility related to work schedule.
  • Desire to learn and adapt to an ever changing environment.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time and assist in lifting/moving equipment and supplies.
  • Dependable and Personable

Hours per week: 10 – 20 hours

Hours Availability: Monday – Friday 7 am - 6 pm and Saturday 7 am – 2:30 pm

Pay Rate: $7.50 hour

Job Description: This person is responsible for advising/supervising 7220 Entertainment Student Event Coordinators and Committees – specifically Fine Arts & Lectures and Films. 7220 Entertainment functions as the student fee-funded entertainment programming organization for students at the University of Wyoming. Through its five programming committees, members of 7220 Entertainment select, plan, promote and present a variety of popular entertainment programs and films that enhance the social and cultural life of the students of the University of Wyoming.

Job Title: Safe Zone Coordinator

Job Description: Safe Zone is a program that promotes a positive campus environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning individuals. This program provides workshops and support for students, faculty, and staff across the University of Wyoming campus and the Laramie community. The Safe Zone Program Coordinator is responsible for the general oversight and direction of the program.

Club Events Coordinator:

The Club Events Coordinator and their committee is charged for providing smaller events and activities for the student population to enjoy on a consistent basis (2-3 events per month). The coordinator should be intentional in developing a comprehensive, diverse schedule of events throughout the year. This includes, but is in no way limited to: music, comedy, speakers, spoken word, trips, special events, etc.

Films Coordinator:

The Films Coordinator and their committee is responsible for providing free full-length feature films on a weekly basis to the student population. Selections may include current major studio releases, documentaries, cult films, throwback films, and public domain films.

Fine Arts & Lectures Coordinator:

The Fine Arts & Lectures Coordinator and their committee is responsible for providing the University of Wyoming and surrounding community with free cultural, artistic, educational programs and thought provoking lectures. The purpose of this committee is to enhance and cultivate diversity and to provide educational and cultural opportunities that are unique to the campus and expand the knowledge of participants. This coordinator is also charged with overseeing the operations and exhibits for Gallery 234* in the Wyoming Union.
*please note the Gallery is currently closed due to pending construction projects – it is anticipated to be finished sometime next year

Late Night Events Coordinator:

The Late-Night Events Coordinator and their committee is responsible for providing the University of Wyoming student body with free, quality entertainment that is fun, unique and exciting, that take place during targeted prime social hours. The Late-Night Events Coordinator and their committee is expected to plan and execute larger scale, multi-tiered programs on specifically targeted nights and weekends as determined by the Campus Activities Center/Center for Student Involvement & Leadership.

Large Scale Events Coordinator:

The Large Scale Events Coordinator and their committee is responsible for bringing large name entertainers to the University of Wyoming. The committee attempts to deliver diverse acts throughout the academic year, including speakers, musicians, comedians, and other performers. The Large Scale Events Coordinator is expected to generate revenue from their events in order to offset costs to allow the committee to bring more acts throughout the academic year. Large Scale Event programs should cater to the University of Wyoming and Laramie communities.
