Wyoming Union Information Desk & Ticket Office

The Wyoming Union is looking to fill four (4) positions for Building Managers for spring semester.  Two (2)must be able to work during winter break.

Job Title: Wyoming Union Building Manager

Job Description: Building managers in the Wyoming Union have various responsibilities. Specific tasks include but are not limited to: 

  • Serve in a customer service role at the information desk for the Wyoming Union and the University of Wyoming campus.  Answer phones and field inquiries from building visitors about the Union and campus. 

  • Make sure building is secure when full-time staff are not present.  Perform regular rounds throughout the building over the course of each shift.

  • Enforce building policies as necessary.

  • Support student groups as they host meetings and events in the building and as they navigate union policies

  • Communicate with campus security, UWPD, Physical Plant and Union Administration as needed

  • Interact with fulltime and student staff from Campus Activity Center, SLCE, ASUW, ASTEC, Student Media, Events Office Staff and Custodial.

  • Provide event support as needed.  Assist Event Support Staff with setups as assigned, including the set up and precise arrangement of furniture (tables, chairs) and the configuration of audio/visual equipment.  Training provided on all these points.

  • Perform light cleaning duties between events and to assist custodial in maintaining the public spaces.

  • Communicate with building staff via nightly reports and emails with supervisors.

IMPORTANT NOTES: 

  • This is an evening and weekends position and will regularly require work past midnight.

  • All students in these positions will be trained in events room set up and audio-visual equipment troubleshooting.  Building managers will be scheduled to work 1 – 2 shifts per month with the Events Support staff to maintain their knowledge of these processes. 

  • We are keenly interested in candidates who have experience working in the Wyoming Union or, at a minimum, a strong knowledge of Union services and programs. 

Job Requirements: Strong customer service skills, including phone etiquette, problem-solving skills, etc.  Must possess good written and oral communication skills. Good organizational skills are a must. Strong attention to detail. You must be able to work with limited supervision.  Must work well as a member of a team.  Capability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

Hours per week: 10 – 20 hours

Pay Rate: $8.50 hour


Wyoming Union Marketing

Campus Activities Center Marketing Coordinator

Approximately 15-20 hours a week

$8.00 / hour – begins Spring 2017 (Ability to work before Spring 2017 semester starts and through the 2018-19 academic year preferred)

 

Job Description:

  • Assist the Union Marketing Office with marketing and promotions of Campus Activities Center (CAC) events, specifically for 7220 Entertainment and its sub-committees: Films, Fine Arts & Lectures, Late Night, Club, and Large Scale events.
  • Assist the CAC Marketing Interns with market research geared towards gaining a better understanding of student programming interests and effective and efficient marketing strategies. Conduct research using a variety of methods that will include survey tools and focus groups.
  • Write and distribute press releases, as well as edit press releases written by the CAC Marketing Interns.
  • Assist in developing and overseeing social media marketing, including the management of the CAC Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat accounts.
  • Develop a strong understanding of new technologies and their use for marketing and advertising.
  • Coordinate with CAC committees, programmers and interns to implement marketing for each weekly event.
  • Occasionally document events via photography and video methods to be later utilized for marketing campaigns by the CAC.
  • Assist in developing and implementing programming board recruitment campaigns.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Union Marketing Coordinator and CAC staff.
  • Attend training to learn UW’s Content Management System (CMS) in order to update and continuously improve the CAC website.
  • Receive requests from Registered Student Organizations (RSO’s) and assist in their marketing needs.

SLCE Student Coordinator
15-20 hours per week
$8.00 per hour
Spring 2018 semester

Description of duties and responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the other SLCE Student Coordinator to plan and execute programs such as:
    • Service Saturdays
    • The Big Event
    • The Good Mule Project
    • Pokes Vote
    • Leadership Events
    • Other SLCE-related programs and events
    • Wyoming Union programs and events
  • Co-Chair the SLCE Street Team with the other SLCE Student Coordinator
  • Present to classes and organizations across campus about SLCE programs
  • Be a resource to students, RSOs, faculty/staff, and community members regarding SLCE programs and events
  • Collaborate with Student Marketing Coordinator to create website, print, and social media materials that promote SLCE programs and events
  • Represent SLCE at University events such as:
    • Campus Pass
    • Discovery Days
    • Club & Org Day
  • Serve on university committees as appointed by supervisor
  • Attend all SLCE/Union trainings and meetings as directed

Terms of employment:

This position is a 15-20 hours per week position. Students are eligible for pay increases based upon years of service, work performance, and supervisor approval. This position may begin prior to the Spring 2018 semester dependent on student's preference and SLCE's needs. This position will work through finals week and not during spring break. Specific duties may change slightly throughout the year as the SLCE Office continues to evolve. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or better.
