Wyoming Union Information Desk & Ticket Office

The Wyoming Union is looking to fill one position for Information Desk Attendant beginning in March 2018. When applying, please provide a course schedule and extracurricular schedule for Spring 2018.

Job Title: Wyoming Information Desk Attendant

Job Description: Information Desk Attendants in the Wyoming Union have various responsibilities.  Specific tasks include but are not limited to: 

  • Answer calls to the Information Desk and University switchboard using proper telephone etiquette.
    • Provide callers with correct information or seek assistance.
  • Provide accurate information to Campus Guests
    • Knowing where information can be found and how to access it.
  • Perform cashier functions:
    • Opening and Closing the register.
    • Process transactions through the register.
  • Support/maintain other services offered at the Information Desk including but not limited to:
    • The University's lost and found area.
    • Issue Single Day parking permits.
  • Support the University of Wyoming Fine Arts and Athletic Box Office:
  • Process payment of Box Office tickets.
  • Manage Will Call tickets when left at the Information Desk.
  • Understand multiple price levels and seating charts
  • Understand emergency procedures and assist Public Safety and other departments in the proper implementation of such in the event of an emergency.
  • Utilize computer skills (Excel, Word, Paciolan etc.).
  • Utilize University of Wyoming e-mail accounts as a way to communicate with colleagues and professional staff members.
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and regularly scheduled training/in-service sessions
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong inter-personal, communication and customer service skills as well as possess a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve, work as a team player, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Reliability, accuracy, and flexibility related to work schedule.
  • Desire to learn and adapt to an ever changing environment.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time and assist in lifting/moving equipment and supplies.

Hours per week: 10 – 20 hours

Hours Availability: Monday – Friday 7 am - 6 pm and Saturday 7 am – 2:30 pm

Pay Rate: $7.50 hour

Wyoming Union Marketing

Graphic Designer (3 positions opening up in August)
Candidates able to continue throughout the 2018-2019 academic year and who are at least Sophomore status or above are preferred. 

Pay:
15-20 Hours a Week
$8.50/hour

Job Description:
The Graphic Designer will provide graphic design support to the Union Marketing Team. Under the direction of the Marketing & Campus Relations Coordinator, the graphic designer will assist in the creation and maintenance of graphics for Wyoming Union printed materials, website and social media platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Design posters, brochures, digital signs and other advertising material for 7220 Entertainment, the Campus Activities Center (CAC), the office of Student Leadership & Community Engagement (SLCE), and other Union programs, signage and events
  • Design and update Wyoming Union websites utilizing the UW Content Management System (CMS)
  • Work with Union employees on new and inventive marketing concepts to promote Union programs and events
  • Maintain digital signage
  • Other design work as needed
  • Attend mandatory Wyoming Union and CMS trainings

Requirements:

  • Graphic design, layout and production
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite  
  • Ability to operate Mac computers to design graphics and other printed and website material
  • Demonstrate artistic and creative skills, while meeting continuous and demanding project deadlines
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Work collaboratively with others
  • Work on projects independently and follow through to completion
  • Proactive and solution-focused approach  
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

Campus Activities Center Marketing Intern (2 positions opening up in August)

Approximately 8-10 hours a week, renewed on a semester basis.
This internship is unpaid but can be utilized for credits.

Job duties include:

  • Assist the Union Marketing Office and CAC Marketing Coordinator with marketing and promotions of Campus Activities Center (CAC) events, specifically for 7220 Entertainment and its sub-committees: Films, Fine Arts & Lectures, Late Night events, Club events and Large Scale events.
  • Assist Marketing Coordinator in developing a comprehensive marketing plan for these programs.
  • Assist Marketing Coordinator with market research geared towards gaining a better understanding of student programming interests and effective and efficient marketing strategies. Research conducted using a variety of methods that will include survey tools and focus groups.
  • Writing and distributing press releases.
  • Assist in developing and overseeing social media marketing, including the management of a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat accounts.
  • Develop a strong understanding of new technologies and their use for marketing and advertising.
  • Coordinate with CAC committees and programmers to implement marketing for each weekly event. This will include weekly tabling in the Union, Washakie and other buildings on campus.
  • Document events via photography and video methods to be later utilized for marketing campaigns by the CAC.
  • Assist in developing and implementing programming board recruitment campaigns.
  • Attend weekly meetings of the respective programming boards to which you are assigned.
  • Attend weekly meetings with Marketing Coordinator and CAC staff.

Job Title: Safe Zone Coordinator
Position closes on Wednesday, April 18 at 5 p.m.

Job Description: Safe Zone is a program that promotes a positive campus environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning individuals. This program provides workshops and support for students, faculty, and staff across the University of Wyoming campus and the Laramie community. The Safe Zone Program Coordinator is responsible for the general oversight and direction of the program.

Service, Leadership and Community Engagement Office

The Wyoming Union Marketing Team is looking to find a SLCE Marketing Coordinator available at the beginning of August, 2018. Candidates able to continue throughout the 2018-2019 academic year, and who are at least Sophomore status or above are preferred.

Pay:
15-20 Hours a Week
$8.00/hour 

Job Description:

  • Work with full-time and part-time staff to oversee the marketing and promotions of all Service, Leadership & Community Engagement (SLCE) programs and events
  • Continue the development of a comprehensive branding and marketing plan for SLCE
  • Complete market research to better understand the service and leadership needs of UW students, faculty/staff, and community partners
  • Develop an understanding of new technologies and their use for marketing and advertising
  • Develop and manage social media / create and stay up to date on social media strategies
  • Create a weekly electronic newsletter for students, staff and faculty
  • Write press releases for programs and events
  • Update the SLCE website and monitor Google Analytics
  • Coordinate with SLCE staff to implement marketing for all programs and events
  • Assist in developing and implementing SLCE volunteer campaigns
  • Attend weekly meetings with SLCE and Wyoming Union Marketing Office staff
  • Attend mandatory Wyoming Union trainings
  • Attend occasional night and weekend events
  • Take photographs and video of programs and events
