The University of Wyoming club hockey team returned from a six-week holiday break, splitting a pair of weekend games with the Air Force Academy club squad.
The Cowboys wasted three points from senior forward Graham Barrett
(Colorado Springs, Colo.) in a 4-3 loss Friday at the Taco John's Events
Center in Cheyenne. Spurred by sophomore forward T.J. Peters (Jackson),
UW rebounded with a 4-2 win Saturday at the Laramie County Ice Arena.
In the Cowboys' victory over the Falcons, Peters tallied two goals and
Barrett and Gabe Dunbar (Casper) each contributed a pair of assists. Tad
Bernet (Katy, Texas) and Erik Blomberg (Parker, Colo.) also scored
goals for UW.
Kenny Ainsworth (Casper) stopped 33 shots to earn the victory in goal.
Despite a goal and two assists from Barrett, who leads the team with 19
points, the Cowboys fell in the teams' first meeting. Blomberg and David
Wells (Rock Springs) also scored for UW.
The Cowboys (6-6) return to the ice Friday against the club team from
Border War rival Colorado State University. Faceoff is scheduled for
7:30 p.m. at the EPIC Center in Fort Collins.
