UW Student Reed Wins $100 Gift Certificate

January 29, 2008

Staci Reed, a University of Wyoming sophomore from Lusk, won a $100 gift certificate to the University Bookstore in a drawing conducted by Stantec Consulting.

Stantec, which was hired by the university last year to help develop a Transportation and Parking Master Plan, offered the gift certificate as incentive to complete an online survey seeking public input.

Reed's name was drawn from a pool of 1,229 completed surveys.

"Stantec and the university greatly appreciate everyone's participation in the parking and transportation survey," says Chuck Huffine, project manager for Stantec. "Thanks to the input we received through the survey, we have a much better understanding of the important issues and that's critical to develop a set of effective solutions."

In addition to the online survey, Stantec has hosted two open forums to gather feedback from Laramie residents and the campus community. The third of four public forums is tentatively scheduled for late February.

Stantec plans to provide a project update to the UW Board of Trustees in March.

The main primary purpose of the master plan study is to analyze various elements related to mobility, transit and parking demands on and around the UW campus and to provide recommendations for future improvement.

In addition to developing a 10-year plan, which could include parking program changes, parking capital projects, a revised transportation management system or mobility and safety capital projects, Stantec will prepare a short-term plan to help mitigate transportation disruptions around campus.
