Low-Volume Paved Roads and Streets Workshops Offered Locally
February 14, 2008 — Three separate low-volume paved roads and streets workshops will be offered this month in Gillette, Rock Springs and Riverton.
The Wyoming Technology Transfer Center (WTTC) and the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) offers the workshops. Located at the University of Wyoming, the center assists local Wyoming agencies and individuals in gaining technical transportation knowledge.
The workshops will be held in Gillette at the Best Western Tower West Lodge Feb. 12, in Riverton at the Riverton Holiday Inn Feb. 13, and in Rock Springs at the Outlaw Inn on Feb. 14. All run from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
The workshops will cover various topics, including pavement engineering background, asphalt pavement design and soil and aggregate engineering properties.
George Huntington, WTTC/LTAP instructor and former Wyoming Department of Transportation engineer, will conduct the workshops. Geared toward individuals responsible for on-the-ground inspection of road and street construction projects, the workshops will provide an overall understanding of construction inspection, with emphasis on the processes required of inspectors.
The cost of the workshop is $45, which includes lunch and all class materials. People who attend the workshop are advised to bring a calculator. For more information or to register, call the WTTC at (800) 231-2815.
