The University of Wyoming club hockey team improved to 9-7 this season with a pair of victories over the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs last weekend.
The Cowboys beat the Mountain Lions 4-1 Friday night at the Taco John's
Events Center in Cheyenne, then romped to a 10-2 win Saturday night at
the Laramie Community Ice Arena.
Senior forwards Graham Barrett (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Tad Bernet
(Katy, Texas) and Jesse Gefroh (Douglas), junior forward Cody Leeper
(Bondurant) and freshman forward Erik Blomberg (Parker, Colo.) netted
two goals apiece to power UW's offense in the weekend sweep.
Senior forward Will Alpsteg (Kearney, Neb.), senior defenseman Gabe
Dunbar (Casper) and junior defenseman Elliott Bauder (Douglas) added
goals in the Cowboys' triumph in Laramie.
Junior forward David Wells (Rock Springs) broke a 1-1 tie in Friday's contest at Cheyenne
with his second tally of the season.
UW plays a home-and-home series against Colorado School of Mines this
weekend. The teams meet at 7 p.m. Friday in Golden, Colo., and Saturday
in Cheyenne.
