The Wyoming Jazz Ensemble will present "Jazz Double-Header," a concert featuring jazz artists Denis DiBlasio on saxophone and John Fedchock on trombone, Friday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium at the University of Wyoming.
Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Tickets may
be purchased by calling the UW Fine Arts Box Office at (307) 766-6666 or
by visiting www.uwyo.edu/finearts.
The performance, directed by J. Scott Turpen, director of jazz studies
at UW, will feature music by both guest artists, as well as other jazz
standards. The concert is in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain
Festival of Winds.
DiBlasio is an accomplished baritone saxophonist, flutist, and vocalist
who has performed with and served as musical director for the Maynard
Ferguson Band. DiBlasio is now the director of jazz studies at Rowan
University.
Fedchock, a former member of the Woody Herman Thundering Herd, is an
active New York City trombonist and arranger. He also directs the
acclaimed John Fedchock New York Big Band.
"It is a rare treat to have two jazz musicians of this caliber in
Wyoming," says Turpen. "The Wyoming Jazz Ensemble, Wyoming's premier big
band, is excited to have the opportunity to perform with these artists.
It will be a great show!"
