UW Student Employee of Year Named

April 30, 2008

Tara Gade, of Lewellen, Neb., was selected as the University of Wyoming Student Employee of the Year.

A family and consumer sciences major with a degree option in professional child development in UW's College of Agriculture, she was among 33 student employees nominated for the award, according to the Department of Human Resources.

Gade has worked at the UW Early Care and Education Center for about three years, says Mark Bittner, center co-director. She primarily has worked in the infant room but has also spent time working in the preschool and toddler rooms.

"We nominated Tara for many reasons," says Bittner, "but some of the major reasons that were given were her incredibly hard work ethic, her willingness to devote extra time to her job -- her incredible enthusiasm for her job and her devotion to the children."

A committee from various campus departments judged the nominations, according to the human resources department. Gade's name was forwarded to the western region competition of the Western Association of Student Employment Administrators for a chance to advance to national competition, but she was not selected.
