Governor, UW President to Address Guard Members at Send

Gov. Dave Freudenthal, University of Wyoming President Tom Buchanan and Cowboy football Coach Joe Glenn will give brief remarks Tuesday, May 27, at 8 a.m. at the Laramie National Guard Armory, 2901 Armory Road, for officers and soldiers being deployed to Afghanistan.

The Wyoming Army National Guard's Embedded Transition Team of 16 officers and soldiers is being deployed to advise, train and assist Afghanistan military and police. Two UW assistant professors of military science and three ROTC alumni are part of that team.

They are Majors James Leas and Joseph Huss of the UW Army ROTC Cowboy Battalion along with UW students Lt. Col. Raymond Kent, B.S. degree in administration of justice and juris doctoral degree, 2nd Lt. Daniel Long, B.S. degree in criminal justice, and Command Sgt. Maj. Jayson Walford, B.S. degree in psychology.

Buchanan will present the team with a UW flag to take to Afghanistan.
