Primary Debates to Be Broadcast Live On Wyoming PBS and Wyoming Public Radio


July 30, 2008 — Wyoming PBS and Wyoming Public Radio will broadcast live debates featuring the contested primary races for Wyoming's seats in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives Monday, Aug. 4, beginning at 7 p.m. from the Little Theater on the Central Wyoming College campus in Riverton.

"Elections 2008: Wyoming Primary Choices," sponsored by Wyoming PBS, Wyoming Public Radio (WPR) and the Wyoming Business Report, will be simulcast by Wyoming PBS and WPR, and the public is invited to attend the live debates.

The first debate will be with four Republican candidates vying to succeed Rep. Barbara Cubin in the U.S. House of Representatives: Mark Gordon, Mike Holland, Cynthia Lummis and Bill Winney.

The second debate will begin at 8 p.m. and will feature two Democractic Party candidates for the unexpired term of the late Sen. Craig Thomas, currently held by appointee Sen. John Barrasso. The debaters are Keith Goodenough and Nick Carter.

The final debate of the night, to be held at 8:30 p.m., will be between two Democrats vying to run against Sen. Mike Enzi, who is seeking re-election to his third term. The candidates are Chris Rothfuss and Al Hamburg.

Geoff O'Gara of Wyoming PBS will moderate the debates while Bob Beck of WPR and MJ Clark of the Wyoming Business Report will pose questions to the candidates as the panel's journalists.
