The "State Games of the West" featured 31 sports for athletes from 13 states and combined with Colorado's Rocky Mountain State Games to serve as a qualifier for the 2009 "State Games of America" (SGA).
"SGA is the premier, national multi-sport competition held every two years featuring 29 different Olympic and Pan American Game sports for amateur athletes of all ages and abilities," says Froidevaux. "The medal winners from 49 state games nationwide earn the right to compete and match their skills against other winners in a national arena, with some 10,000 athletes participating in the 2009 SGA."
The UW club practices traditional martial arts for self-improvement and self-defense, and Froidevaux says many members have found the training beneficial for health and weight control as well.
Fall semester training sessions begin Monday, Aug. 25. For more information, call the UW Club Sports office at (307) 766-6396 or Froidevaux at (307) 766-4980.
