Pesticide Recertification Part of Annual Weed Management Association Meeting

Weed identification, chemical company updates and pesticide application recertification are part of the third annual meeting of the Wyoming Weed Management Association Jan. 20-22 in Casper.

The conference, in conjunction with the University of Wyoming Pesticide Applicator Recertification Program and the Wyoming Department of Agriculture, is at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel.

Interested persons can find information, register online or print a brochure to register by going to www.uwyo.edu/plants/wyopest/wyoprog.htm. Registration deadline is Jan. 12.

The meeting will fulfill recertification credits for all pesticide applicator categories, says Mark Ferrell, pesticide coordinator with the UW Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES). There are various fees for the convention and program.

There are numerous breakout sessions. Some of the topics are rangeland, aquatic, crop and turf weeds; equipment calibration; laws affecting pesticides; bird control; rabies and skunk control; wildlife disease; weeds affecting small acreages; invasive species; and a yellow starthistle workshop.

The UW CES and the College of Agriculture sponsor the meeting.
