January 30, 2009

Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report:

Information Technology (IT) Center -- Some punch list work (final items to complete on list after walk through of a project) remains in several locations. The contractors will continue to work on these items during the next few weeks. Staff members moved into the third floor last week. Work on the exterior building and landscaping that is incomplete or was added late in the schedule will be completed as the weather permits. The interior signs, furniture, and other owner-provided items are being ordered and will be installed as they arrive. The building is open for contractors and IT staff only.

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- Painting will continue on the upper floor of the existing building. Finish work will continue on the other levels. At the addition, placement of the floor slab and final areas of the foundation system will take place weather permitting.

Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. Go here for a list of the new office locations: www.uwyo.edu/news/showrelease.asp?id=23821

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- At the addition, the lower level is nearly completed. Door, hardware, and wall base will be installed. The final clean up of the lower level will be starting at the end of the week. The other levels are proceeding with finish work, each level at a different stage. In the 70s portion of the existing building, ceiling grids will be installed.

Weather permitting, the contractor will install concrete pavement between the new addition and the History building.

Student Health/Cheney International Center -- The Student Health lobby tile grout and painting will be completed early next week to allow access to the building from the new front door. First floor ceilings are being demolished and fire suppression systems, HVAC and IT will be installed in the east wing. The basement ceiling (west wing) continues to be remodeled.

College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- The roof material will be delivered and installed as the weather permits. This may temporarily block some traffic on the street directly west of the construction. Work at the roof level includes stucco and installation of the clerestory windows. The concrete slab was poured in the Large Moot Court room last week so wall layout and framing will take place there this week.

Framing of the ceiling soffits, air ducts, and electrical rough-in will take place overhead in the Large Moot Court. Drywall will be installed in the Small Moot Court, restrooms, and corridor.

Centennial Complex
--Interior punch list items in the small galleries will be complete this week

UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Interior framing continues along with electrical and mechanical rough-ins. Drywall is in progress. Exterior stucco on the addition is complete. The construction completion is scheduled for March 2009.

The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

15th Street -- The City of Laramie has installed a concrete apron around a manhole east of Wyo Hall. The area remains blocked off mostly to allow the concrete to cure.

Residence Halls -- A manhole in the sidewalk on the Grand Avenue side of the residence halls will be re-lined Thursday, weather permitting. One lane of traffic will be closed for the morning hours while the work is being performed.

College of Engineering -- The painting in public areas of the new Engineering Building continues. Please use caution around work areas and be aware of sensitivities to paint odors.

College of Agriculture -- Replacement of hallway lighting has been completed.

Half Acre -- Window replacement has been completed. Plaster repair, caulking and painting are continuing. The sidewalk on the north side of the building has been opened temporarily but will be closed again when caulking and painting activities progress to the north side of the building.

Fuel Facility -- The new fueling facility to the south of CEP (Central Energy Plant) is complete. Access has returned to normal on Gibbon Street. The new software is being installed and new fuel cards issued. The facility should be operational by Feb. 2.

Snow Removal -- Snow and ice removal continues as needed. Please be cautious of snow removal equipment.
