Campus Construction Update for Week of Feb. 15

The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

Wyoming Union -- Construction activities for the Pita Pit remodel will begin next week. Pedestrian traffic will be routed around the work area as needed. Please use caution in this congested area. Work will continue into March.

Physical Sciences Building -- Work continues in the mechanical system area of the building. The fourth floor men's room remains offline until the work is completed.

College of Engineering -- The painting in public areas of the new Engineering Building continues. Please use caution around work areas and be aware of sensitivities to paint odors.

Fuel Facility -- The new fueling facility to the south of CEP (Central Energy Plant) is complete. Access has returned to normal on Gibbon Street. The issue with card readers has been resolved, and the facility is fully operational. The old facility at 14th and Lewis will be taken offline Feb. 23.

Snow Removal -- Snow and ice removal continues as needed. Please be cautious of snow removal equipment.

Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report:

Information Technology (IT) Center -- Some punch list work (final items to complete on list after walk through of a project) remains in several locations and will be completed soon. Temporary window coverings have been installed on the second and third floors. Permanent window coverings will be ordered this week. The furniture, and other owner provided items are being ordered and will be installed as they arrive.

Work on the exterior building and landscaping that is incomplete or was added late in the schedule will be completed as the weather permits. The building is open for contractors and IT staff only. Tours are can be arranged upon request.

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- At the existing building, painting will take place on the upper floor. Gypsum board finishing will take place on the first and second floors. Metal framing and utility rough-ins will start of the lower levels.

Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. Go here for a list of the new office locations: www.uwyo.edu/news/showrelease.asp?id=23821

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- Final cleaning has been under way on level one and in the basement of the addition in preparation of the final inspection. Finish work is progressing on the rest of the floors. At lLevels three and four of the 50s addition, the installation of ceiling tile and carpet will take place.

Student Health/Cheney International Center -- Formwork for stairs on the exterior will begin once the ground has thawed. Ceiling grid is being installed first floor west and ceilings are being painted on the lower level. Painting continues on both levels.

College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- In the Large Moot Courtroom they will continue framing walls and soffits and rough-in of the ducts, piping, and electric. They will also construct the interior concrete block walls. In the Small Moot Courtroom, seminar room, and restrooms they will be taping and finishing the drywall. They will start measuring for case work. On the exterior they will finish the skim coating of the walls and finish the roof. There will be a tour given for students, faculty, staff, and guest on Thursday.

UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Drywall is continuing along with taping and mudding. Roofing is under way on the new addition. The construction completion is scheduled for April 2009.
