Campus Construction Update for Week of Feb. 22

Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report:

Information Technology (IT) Center -- Most of the punch list work (final items to complete on list after walk through of a project) has been completed and back checked but some remains in several locations and will be completed soon. Temporary window coverings have been installed on the second and third floors. The furniture, and other owner provided items are being ordered and will be installed as they arrive.

Work on the exterior building and landscaping that is incomplete or was added late in the schedule will be completed as the weather permits. The building is open for contractors and IT staff only. Tours are can be arranged upon request.

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- The final slab in the basement will be installed at the beginning of the week. Erection of the steel frame will begin during the week. Finish work will continue for most of the interior of the existing building. The third floor will be prepared for carpet; second floor for painting; first floor for final drywall fill; and the basement level will begin gypsum board installation.

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- At the addition, punch list items from the final inspection on level one will be addressed. Final work on level five will be done in preparation for the final cleaning and substantial completion walk through. Compact shelving installation has started in the special collection area and will continue. Final checking of mechanical and electrical systems is under way and will continue. In the middle area of the library, levels three and four, final cleaning will take place.

Student Health/Cheney International Center -- Painting, acoustical ceiling installation and flooring will continue in the west wing. Pharmacy remodel and drywall will begin.

College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- In the Large Moot Courtroom they will continue installing the ducts, piping, and electric. They will drywall the ceiling soffits, and they will start installing the stone panels. In the Small Moot Courtroom, seminar room, and restrooms they will begin painting. On the exterior they will work on the stucco.

UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Drywall is continuing along with taping and mudding. Roofing is under way on the new addition. Ductwork and water piping insulation will be complete this week. The new air handler will be delivered to the site on Monday, Feb. 23, and will temporarily block the alley on the south. The construction completion is scheduled for April 2009.

The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

State Veterinary & Chemistry Lab -- Excavation and removal of contaminated soil will begin this weekend, with heavy equipment moving in on Friday. The dig area is on the southwest side of the building, near the loading dock. Access to the south side of the building will be restricted. Please be aware of heavy equipment and soil stockpiles in the area.

Wyoming Union -- Construction activities for the Pita Pit remodel will continue into March. Pedestrian traffic will be routed around the work area as needed. Please use caution in this congested area.

Physical Sciences Building -- Work continues in the mechanical system area of the building. The fourth floor men's room remains offline until the work is completed.

College of Engineering -- The painting in public areas of the new Engineering Building continues. Please use caution around work areas and be aware of sensitivities to paint odors. The men's restroom located in room 1051 is closed for ADA accessibility renovations. The restroom should be operational by mid-week.

Fuel Facility -- The new fueling facility to the south of CEP (Central Energy Plant) is fully operational. The old facility at 14th and Lewis will be taken offline Feb. 23.

Snow Removal -- Snow and ice removal continues as needed. Please be cautious of snow removal equipment.
