Miss Wyoming Pageant Seeks Contestants

February 11, 2009

The Miss Wyoming pageant is looking for contestants for the 2009 event. The application deadline has been extended until Feb. 18.

Interested individuals should contact Matthew Rubin, pageant board member and University of Wyoming botany graduate student, at mrubin@uwyo.edu. The number of contestants is limited.

The Miss Wyoming state pageant will be held June 6 in Sheridan and the winner will advance to the Miss America Pageant in January, 2010.

Last year, more than $7,000 in scholarship money, including a UW scholarship, was awarded to the state contestants. To apply to be a contestant and for more information, visit www.misswyoming.org.

Rubin says the Miss America organization is the world's largest independently funded scholarship program for young women in the world. Last year, scholarships at the local, state and national level surpassed $45 million. More about the Miss America organization can be found at www.missamerica.org.
