Campus Construction Update for Week of March 15

Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report:

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- Finish work continues on the upper two levels of the existing building. Mechanical rough-ins and drywall installation continues on the lower two floor. At the addition, installation of structural steel is taking place.

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- Final inspection of the addition continues. The carpet and other finishes are continuing on the ground floor, the last space of the addition to be completed. Testing and balancing of the mechanical system continues. At the 70s addition, shelving is being installed.

Student Health/ Cheney International Center -- Wednesday, March 18, Student Health will move into the offices and exam rooms. Pharmacy will move on March 20. Work is continuing on the landscape. Boulders will be set on March 23. Concrete will be poured for the ramp and steps as weather allows. Beginning the week of March 23, the last phase of the project will commence with demolition of some interior walls in the basement. Expect noise, vibrations and dust the last two weeks of March.

Information Technology (IT) Center -- Work on the exterior building and landscaping that is incomplete or was added late in the schedule will be completed as weather permits. Next week concrete work is scheduled to take place in King Street and at the southwest corner of the site (weather permitting). King Street will remain open and disruptions to traffic flow will be minimal.

Most of the punch list work (final items to complete on list after walk through of a project) has been completed and back-checked. The furniture and other owner-provided items are being ordered and will be installed as they arrive. The building is open for contractors and IT staff only. Tours are can be arranged upon request.

Visual Arts-- Survey crews will finish surveying the site and adjacent streets at the corner of Willett and 22nd during the week of March 16, weather permitting.

College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- Work in the corridor will start Friday, March 13, and be completed before Monday, March 23. Exterior grading and utility work will close off the west entrance. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed to the east entrances.

Work will include: Corridor work, paint and new carpet protection; install new lockers and paint locker and storage rooms; complete hanging of sheetrock and start tape and finish in Large Moot Court; continue MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) work throughout the project, to include system shut down to finish work in existing mechanical room; install finish woodwork at terracotta tablets; fix lift issue in bathroom corridor; make sewer connection under existing sidewalk; remove and replace concrete at main entry; pour light pole bases and bench footings; grade site to finish elevations and remove all spoils; fix drainage issues at handicap ramp and install detectable warning plates.

UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Drywall texturing is finishing up. Roofing is complete on the new addition with metal fascia panels scheduled for installation this week. The new air handler is placed in the building and final duct and electrical connections are continuing. Drywall priming and door staining is in progress. Restroom tile installation will be complete next week. Data wiring will continue over the next few weeks. The construction completion is scheduled for April 2009.

The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

Wyoming Union -- Construction activities for the Pita Pit remodel will be completed the week of March 23. Pedestrian traffic will be routed around the work area as needed. Please use caution in this congested area. The third floor will be painted the week of Spring Break. Please use caution around work areas and be aware of sensitivities to paint odors.

Half Acre -- Windows above the infield area will be replaced over Spring Break. Work areas will be blocked off during the construction. The schedule has been coordinated to minimize disruption to the exercise areas. Caulking around the interior of all windows will begin March 20 and continue through the week of March 23.

College of Agriculture -- New emergency lighting will be installed in Ag C corridors over Spring Break. Please use caution around work areas. The east freight elevator will be painted the week of March 22. Please use another elevator until the freight elevator returns to operation.

Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory -- Grading of the parking lot and final cleanup continues. Access to the south side of the building will remain restricted. Please be aware of heavy equipment in the area.

Tree Trimming -- Grounds Services will be trimming trees on campus for the next few weeks. Areas will be blocked off as trimming occurs. Please be cautious of falling limbs in work areas.

Snow Removal -- Snow and ice removal continues as needed. Please be cautious of snow removal equipment.
