Campus Construction Update for Week of March 28

Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report:

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- In the existing building, floor preparation for carpet will take place on the third floor, ceiling grid installation on the second floor, painting on the first floor, and drywall installation on the first. Structural steel will continue at the addition.

Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. Go here for a list of the new office locations: www.uwyo.edu/news/showrelease.asp?id=23821

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- Contractor will be finishing up the addition and the final walk through of the main level will take place. Collection move in the middle and east sections of the library will continue. Weather permitting, the concrete walk between the Library and College of Business will be installed. The north entrance is tentatively scheduled to be open April 6, and the west entrance to the Library is tentatively scheduled to be closed April 11. During the week of April 6 the Library can be entered from both of these locations, but exiting will be limited to the north door of the new addition.

Student Health/ Cheney International Center -- Student Health has relocated into the new offices and exam rooms. Work is continuing on the landscape with boulders being set as weather permits. Concrete will be poured for the ramp and steps as weather allows. Demolition of some interior walls and work in the basement will continue. Expect noise, vibrations and dust from these activities.

War Memorial Stadium Expansion and Improvements (Scheduled completion date, fall 2010) --The East Stadium parking lot will be closed April 6 through August 24. Excavation and demolition will begin the week of March 30. Contractor will be performing miscellaneous work around the staging area.

Visual Arts -- Survey crews may be on site at the corner of Willett and 22nd during the week of March 30, depending on weather having permitted completion of work under way the previous week.

College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- Drywall tape and finish will conclude and painting begin throughout. Electrical wiring is being pulled. Some of the audio/visual equipment and wiring will start to be installed. Wood casework and trim installation will start. Tile and fixtures will be installed in the restrooms. New carpet for the first floor corridor could be here this week and will be installed over a weekend. The Air Handling Unit has been shipped and will be installed in the new basement mechanical room when it arrives. The landscaping irrigation and boulders will start installation if the weather permits.

UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Metal fascia panels on the addition are scheduled for installation this week. The new air handler has been placed in the building and final duct and electrical connections are continuing. Interior wall painting is complete with door frame painting continuing. Restroom tile installation is complete. Plumbing fixtures are being installed in the restrooms. Electrical trim out is in progress. Ceiling grid installation is 50 percent complete. Exterior site work will continue over the next month based on weather. The construction completion is scheduled for April 2009.

Long Range Development Plan -- Everyone is invited to attend the next LRDP workshops Thursday, April 30, to discuss the Preferred Alternative. The campus meeting is set for 3:30 p.m. in the Washakie Center Rendezvous Room (lower Level). The community is invited to attend the same workshop at 7 p.m. at the Albany County Library. The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

Wyoming Union -- The Pita Pit remodel has been completed, and the restaurant is open. Construction activities for Panda Express have begun. Pedestrian traffic will be routed around the work area as needed. Please use caution in this congested area.

Half Acre -- The windows above the infield area have been replaced. Caulking around the interior of all windows continues.

College of Agriculture -- Emergency lighting has been installed in Ag C corridors. The east freight elevator will reopen March 30. Please use another elevator until the freight elevator returns to operation.

Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory -- Grading of the parking lot and final cleanup continues. Access to the south side of the building will remain restricted. Please be aware of heavy equipment in the area.

Tree Trimming -- Grounds Services continues to trim trees as weather permits. Areas will be blocked off as trimming occurs. Please be cautious of falling limbs in work areas.

Snow Removal -- Snow and ice removal continues as needed. Please be cautious of snow removal equipment.
