Public Radio Stations Back on the Air

March 25, 2009

A powerful snowstorm earlier in the week in parts of Wyoming knocked out power to some Wyoming Public Radio stations, but most were back on the air Wednesday.

Public Radio Station KUWG in the Gillette was off the air Monday due to a power outage, and power was restored early Tuesday evening.

Public radio station 91.3 KUWC in Casper was off the air for a few hours Tuesday when the transmitter was shut down due to overheating. Power was restored late Tuesday afternoon. Power also was restored at KUWT, Thermopolis.

As of Wednesday morning, radio station KUWZ in Rock Springs and KDUW in Douglas were off the air due to suspected power failures.

"We strive to get them all back up and running as soon as possible," says Jon Schwartz, WPR general manager.
