Experts and policy makers will discuss land use, climate change and sustainable business practices Thursday, April 9, at a University of Wyoming forum.

Student members of UW's American Marketing Association will host the third annual Sustainable Business Practices Forum from 1-4 p.m. in the Wyoming Union ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.

"This is a student-driven event designed to support the college-wide sustainability initiative at the University of Wyoming College of Business," says Aubrey Johnson of UW's American Marketing Association collegiate chapter.

Jason Shogren, UW's Stroock Distinguished Professor of Natural Resource Conservation and Management, will give a keynote address on the policy environment of climate change. He is among the elite group of scientists sharing the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice President Al Gore.

A panel of experts will discuss implementing sustainability in different contexts. The public panel features representatives from UW, New Belgium Brewing, Patagonia, Studio Twenty-Seven Architecture and the U.S. Green Building Council. Discussion will focus on implementing sustainability in for-profit firms, educational institutions and architecture.

The UW Collegiate Chapter of the American Marketing Association provides career development and networking opportunities to UW students. The chapter also sponsors educational programs to promote public discourse on issues of sustainability, Johnson says.

For additional information on the forum, call Johnson at (307) 399-2637.
