The University of Wyoming club racquetball team closed out its season with several individual wins at the University of Colorado tournament in Boulder last weekend.

"The tournament was organized in round-robin style, with three combined divisions, so all players played a lot of games," says Lena Edmunds, the club's adviser/coach.

Besides UW and the host CU team, other teams were from Denver University, UC-Colorado Springs and the United States Air Force Academy.

Competing in the combined division one and two was Luke Brandjord, Green River, who split his six matches.

UW had three players compete in the combined division three and four bracket -- Jesse Johnson, Riverton, had three wins and four losses; Andrew West, Loveland, Colo., had a 2-5 record; and Kevin Schilling, Casper, went 1-6.

Chris Cronick, Anchorage, Alaska, had a 3-3 record in division five and six bracket play and teammate Josh Jones of Lander went 2-4.

Schilling and Johnson competed in their first intercollegiate racquetball tournament.

"There were a lot of tough, competitive players and our team represented UW well, despite not getting a lot of wins," Edmunds says. "I was particularly pleased with how Chris Cronick competed. At the last tournament, he didn't come away with any wins, but this time he stepped it up and went 3 and 3."
