UW Text Alert Test Successful

March 12, 2009 — More than 11,100 University of Wyoming students, faculty and staff received a text message on their cell phones Thursday in a system-wide test of the university's text notification system, UW Alert.

An e-mail message was also sent to all exchange users plus those people who have provided an outside e-mail address. In the event of a real emergency, those signed up for the UW Alert system would have received specific instructions.

The text alert system, one of many safety initiatives in place at UW, provides a means to reach as many members of the university community as possible.
