Women In Science Workshop Presenters Needed

March 9, 2009

The Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium is seeking individuals willing to present workshops during the 10th Annual Women in Science - Expanding Your Horizons (WIS-EYH) conference to be held in the Wyoming Union Ballroom Thursday, May 14.

Workshop presenters are needed from 10:35-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-2:25 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

Potential volunteers can be UW faculty, graduate or undergraduate students or members of the Laramie community. Workshop leaders should prepare one or two 55-minute interactive programs that relate to science, technology, math or engineering fields.

Volunteers are also needed for career panels to be held from 12:40-1:10 p.m. Professional women in the panel are asked to discuss their careers and answer questions from students.

"Our goal is to provide mentors and role models to young women and encourage them to pursue careers in science, engineering, mathematics and/or technology," says Michele Stark, Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium associate director. More than 300 junior and senior high school students from across the state are expected to attend.
