Campus Construction Update for Week April 5

Construction continues at the College of Business.

Traffic Alert:  A  20 mph speed limit is now in effect on 9th, Lewis, Ivinson and 15th streets surrounding the campus.

Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- -The installation of finishes will continue in the existing building. At the addition, the installation of the steel structural system will continue. Back filling will begin and the layout of walls on the basement level will start.

Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. Go here for a list of the new office locations: www.uwyo.edu/news/showrelease.asp?id=23821

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- The addition is going through the final inspection. The contractor will pick up miscellaneous items. Moving from the existing to the new addition should begin on Monday. At the exterior, the contractor will install walks between the library and College of Business Building. The schedule for shifting entrances has changed. The west entrance will be open the week of April 6. Pland call for the north entrance to open on April 13. If that occurs, the west entrance will be closed during the week of April 13.

Student Health/ Cheney International Center -- Student Health has relocated into the new offices and exam rooms. Work continues on the landscape with boulders being set as weather permits. Construction crews will begin setting boulders beginning Monday, April 7. The contractor has been asked to provide flagmen around the site. It will be important for pedestrians and cyclists to be cautious when traveling through this area while the heavy equipment is moving the boulders. Concrete will be poured for the ramp and steps as weather allows.

War Memorial Stadium Expansion and Improvements (Scheduled completion date, fall 2010) -The East Stadium parking lot will be closed April 6 through August 24. Excavation and demolition will continue. The contractor will be doing miscellaneous work around the staging area.

Visual Arts -- Survey crews may be on site at the corner of Willett and 22nd during the week of March 30, depending on weather having permitted completion of work under way the previous week.

Cowboy Dorm (log building west of the Earth Sciences Center) -- Asbestos abatement will start  April 7.

College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- Ceiling grid installation continues in the Large Moot Court. Painting continues throughout but is mostly detailing and touch-up. Electrical wiring pulling continues. Audio/Visual equipment and wiring continues. Wood casework and trim installation will continue in both court rooms. Tile and fixtures will complete installed in the restrooms. New carpet for the 1st floor corridor will begin Thursday afternoon and will be installed over the weekend. Wheelchair lift installation will begin.
The air handling unit has been shipped and will be installed in the new basement mechanical room when it arrives. The soil grading is being leveled off and damp proofing that was too high on the walls is being removed. Coating the remaining areas of the exterior walls will continue as the weather permits. The landscaping irrigation and boulders will continue to be installed as the weather permits.

UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Mechanical, plumbing and electrical finishes are continuing. Interior painting is complete. Ceiling grid installation will be complete next week. Cabinet installation continues. Carpeting will begin next week. Exterior site work will continue over the next month depending on the weather. The construction completion is scheduled for later this month.

Long Range Development Plan -- Everyone is invited to attend the next LRDP workshops Thursday, April 30, to discuss the Preferred Alternative. The campus meeting is set for 3:30 p.m. in the Washakie Center Rendezvous Room (lower Level). The community is invited to attend the same workshop at 7 p.m. at the Albany County Library. The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

Wyoming Union -- Construction activities for Panda Express continue. Pedestrian traffic will be routed around the work area as needed. Please use caution in this congested area.

Half Acre -- Caulking around the interior of all windows continues.

College of Agriculture -- The east freight elevator is operational.

Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory -- Work has been completed and all access has returned to normal.

Tree Trimming -- Grounds Services continues to trim trees as weather permits. Areas will be blocked off as trimming occurs. Please be cautious of falling limbs in work areas.

Snow Removal -- Snow and ice removal continues as needed. Please be cautious of snow removal equipment.
