Campus Construction Update for Week April19

These are among the construction activities scheduled at the University of Wyoming during the week of April 19-25:

Traffic Alert: A 20 mph speed limit is now in effect on 9th, Lewis, Ivinson and 15th streets surrounding the campus.

Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- Steel erection continues. Concrete is scheduled to be placed for the main floor on Monday. This may require closing the bus lane east of the site. Buses will exit the Union parking lot at Fraternity Row. Finish work continues at the existing building.

Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. Go here for a list of the new office locations: www.uwyo.edu/news/showrelease.asp?id=23821

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- North doors will open Monday. East doors will close during or at the end of the week. Contractor working on punch list (final items to complete on list after walk through of a project) is waiting until the move is complete before starting on the rest of the building.

Student Health/ Cheney International Center -- The construction fence will not be relocated until weather allows. Work will continue when snow has melted on west side landscape, north of Merica Hall and Cheney Plaza. Basement remodel involves drywall, fire suppression and HVAC installation. Cabinets and countertops will be re-installed in the Pharmacy Building.

War Memorial Stadium Expansion and Improvements (Scheduled completion date, fall 2010) -- The East Stadium parking lot will be closed through August 24. Excavation and demolition will continue. Contractor will be doing miscellaneous work around the staging area.

Information Technology Center -- Work on the landscaping may start again depending on the weather.

College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation --The ceiling grid and ceiling tiles will be completed; carpeting will be installed In the Small Moot Court. Corridor doors will be changed and new hardware added. Electrical wiring pulling continues. Audio/Visual equipment and wiring continues. Wood casework and trim installation will continue in both court rooms. The air handling unit installation continues in the new basement mechanical room. Coating the remaining areas of the exterior walls will continue as the weather permits.
The landscaping irrigation, boulders, and benches will continue installation as the weather permits. Replacement of roof tiles and roof detailing will continue as the weather permits. Some work on the sidewalks has to be redone and completed. The sidewalks will be roped off in these locations during this time.

UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Mechanical, plumbing and electrical finishes are continuing. Interior painting is complete. Ceiling grid and tile installation will be complete next week. Cabinet installation is finished. Carpeting has started and will continue into next week. Exterior site work will continue over the next month depending on the weather and may block the alley to the south at times. Fire alarm and fire suppression tests are complete. The construction completion is scheduled for later this month.

General Classroom Renovations -- Phase 2 (Scheduled completion date: August 21) Classrooms to be renovated this summer include: Bioscience 217, 218, 219, 220 and Engineering 1045, 2112, 3108, 3109, 3110, 3111, 3112, 3114. Demolition this week will include Engineering 2112. Staging area will take up two spaces behind the Engineering Building. Student lockers in the Engineering Petroleum wing will need to be emptied directly after finals.

Long Range Development Plan -- Everyone is invited to attend the next LRDP workshops Thursday, April 30, to discuss the Preferred Alternative. The campus meeting is set for 3:30 p.m. in the Washakie Center Rendezvous Room (lower level). The community is invited to attend the same workshop at 7 p.m. at the Albany County Library. The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

Biological Sciences -- New walls will be constructed on the landings in the southeast stairwell beginning Monday. The stairwell will be blocked off while the work proceeds. Please use the elevator or another stairwell during construction.

Wyoming Union
-- Construction activities for Panda Express continue. Pedestrian traffic will be routed around the work area as needed. Please use caution in this congested area.

Half Acre
-- Punch list items are being completed as the window project reaches completion. There should be no affect on access within the building.

Tree Trimming -- Grounds Services continues to trim trees as weather permits. Areas will be blocked off as trimming occurs. Please be cautious of falling limbs in work areas.

Snow Removal -- Snow and ice removal continues as needed. Please be cautious of snow removal equipment.
