Campus Construction Update for Week of April 26

The new north side entrance to Coe Library is now open; the old entrance on 13th street is boarded up.

These are among the construction activities scheduled at the University of Wyoming during the week of April April 26-May 2:

Traffic Alert: A 20 mph speed limit is now in effect on 9th, Lewis, Ivinson and 15th streets surrounding the campus.

Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- Steel erection will continue at the addition. Utility rough-ins are on-going in the basement of the addition. Finish work continues in the existing building.
Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. Go here for a list of the new office locations.

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- The north entrance is open, the entrance on 13th street is closed. Contractor will be fixing miscellaneous items and preparing for the next phase, which is renovation the lower two floors of the rest of the building.

Student Health/Cheney International Center -- Work continues on the exterior landscape. Benches and masonry work will be set in place. The basement framing is completed and drywall will be installed after inspections. Heat may need to be shut down to accommodate some repair of existing systems. The pharmacy is almost complete.

War Memorial Stadium Expansion and Improvements (Scheduled completion date, fall 2010) -- The East Stadium parking lot will be closed through Aug. 24. Foundations and utilities work will begin. Repair mock-ups are scheduled on the lower east stand.

Information Technology Center -- Exterior work on the building and landscaping will proceed depending on the weather.

College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- In the Large Moot Court they will install wall panels, window trim, wall caps, handrails, stair nosings and ceiling tiles. In the Small Moot Court they will  install desks, doors, door hardware, carpet, stair nosings and ceiling tile. Landscaping work is scheduled to continue throughout the week.

UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Mechanical, plumbing and electrical finishes nearly complete. Interior painting is complete. Ceiling grid and acoustical tile installation is complete. Carpeting will be complete next week. Exterior site work will continue over the next few weeks depending on the weather and will block the alley to the south at times. Fire alarm and fire suppression tests are complete. The construction completion is scheduled for later this month.

Cowboy Dorm Asbestos Abatement -- Work continues on the abatement for the Cowboy Dorm (log building west of Earth Sciences Center). The boiler will be abated and glove bagging of pipe connections will proceed. Work is expected to be completed by mid-week.

Visual Arts -- Survey crews may be on site at the corner of Willett and 22nd near the end of the week finishing utility locates that were not completed due to earlier weather issues.

General Classroom Renovations -- Phase 2 (Scheduled completion date: August 21) Classrooms to be renovated this summer include: Bioscience 217, 218, 219, 220 and Engineering 1045, 2112, 3108, 3109, 3110, 3111, 3112, 3114. Demolition this week will include Engineering 2112. Staging area will take up two spaces behind the Engineering Building. Student lockers in the Engineering Petroleum wing will need to be emptied directly after finals.

Long Range Development Plan -- Everyone is invited to attend the next LRDP workshops Thursday, April 30, to discuss the Preferred Alternative. The campus meeting is set for 3:30 p.m. in the Washakie Center Rendezvous Room (lower level). The community is invited to attend the same workshop at 7 p.m. at the Albany County Library. The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

Biological Sciences -- New walls are being constructed on the landings in the southeast stairwell. The stairwell is closed while the work proceeds. Please use the elevator or another stairwell during construction.

Engineering -- Painting of common areas is occurring on the third floor of the Engineering Building.

Wyoming Union -- Construction activities for Panda Express continue. Pedestrian traffic will be routed around the work area as needed. Please use caution in this congested area.

Half Acre -- Project has been completed. All access has returned to normal.

Tree Trimming -- Grounds Services continues to trim trees as weather permits. Areas will be blocked off as trimming occurs. Please be cautious of falling limbs in work areas.

Snow Removal -- Snow and ice removal continues as needed. Please be cautious of snow removal equipment.
