Percussion Ensemble to Perform April 9

The University of Wyoming Department of Music will present a performance by the Percussion Ensemble and Pan Band Thursday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center concert hall. Admission is free.

Directed by Steve Barnhart, this eclectic chamber ensemble includes drums, marimbas, xylophones, bells, vibraphones and Latin percussion instruments.

The program will feature, among other selections, Bela Fleck's "Hurricane Camille," "The Gilded Cage" by Wyoming native Susan Powell and a ragtime xylophone solo played by international studies major Becky Farley of Richmond, Va.

The UW Pan Band will conclude the program with modern arrangements of Caribbean favorites for steel drums.
