UW to Host Public Art Symposium April 2-4
April 1, 2009 — A 2 1/2-day symposium on the importance of public art in communities and on college campuses opens Thursday, April 2, at the University of Wyoming Conference Center.
"Public Art and Community: Inspiration and Reflection," sponsored by the UW Art Museum and the Wyoming Arts Council (WAC), will include about 40 presentations from artists, art educators and civic and community leaders on topics ranging from public art programs in Wyoming to public policy to art in the classroom.
Also, 10 of the artists from "Sculpture: A Wyoming Invitational" will present sessions on their work.
The symposium concludes Saturday, April 4.

The WAC enhances the quality of life for the people of Wyoming by providing resources to sustain, promote and cultivate the arts.
The UW Art Museum is located in the Centennial Complex at 2111 Willett Drive in Laramie. The museum is open Mondays from 10 a.m.-9 p. m. and Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is free.
